Pokemon Sword is the 2019 Gen 8 launch on the Switch. The Pokemon Sword Pokedex introduces the Galar region, Dynamax, Max Raid battles, and Galarian regional forms. Pokemon Sword launched without a national dex, which was a major community controversy. Zacian, the Pokemon Sword cover legendary, uses the iconic Rusted Sword item to transform.
Version Exclusives in Pokemon Sword
Pokemon Sword exclusives include Farfetch'd, Sirfetch'd, Jangmo-o line, Darumaka line, Deino line, Escavalier, Passimian, Indeedee male, Rufflet, Braviary, and Stonjourner. You need Pokemon Shield trades for Ponyta/Rapidash (Galarian), Goomy line, Galarian Mr. Mime, Cufant, Copperajah, and Shield-exclusive raids.
Completing the Pokemon Sword Pokedex
Pokemon Sword pokedex completion runs at about 400 entries including DLC. The Isle of Armor DLC expands it. The Crown Tundra adds even more. Hidden Abilities come mostly from Max Raid battles in the Galar Wild Area.
