Where Pokepedia's content comes from.

Pokepedia is a fan project. We didn't invent any of the Pokémon data you see here. We compiled it from public community resources, public APIs, and our own editorial work. This page exists so anyone curious about where a given piece of information originated can find their way back to the right authority.

Pokémon IP

Every Pokémon name, sprite, move, ability, type chart, game title, and character is the creative work of Nintendo, Game Freak, and The Pokémon Company. Those trademarks belong to them. Pokepedia is not affiliated with any of them. We don't pretend otherwise.

PokeAPI

Most of what powers Pokémon fan tools on the web today originates at PokeAPI, the open REST API maintained by a community of volunteers. PokeAPI publishes its data under permissive terms and we use it the same way countless other sites do. Thank you to the PokeAPI team.

Bulbapedia

Bulbapedia is the deepest community-maintained Pokémon reference online, covering decades of generations, regional variants, DLC details, and minor game mechanics that other sources skip. Some factual information on Pokepedia, especially for recent-generation encounter data, draws on their community's work.

Bulbapedia's content is published under the Creative Commons BY-NC-SA 2.5 license. Pokepedia is a monetized site, so we can't claim to comply with the non-commercial clause of that license. Instead, we rely on U.S. fair use principles: the game facts we use (where Pokémon spawn, at what levels, by what method) are not protected by copyright.

If you're a Bulbapedia editor and believe specific text on Pokepedia crosses a line, please contact us and we'll address it in good faith.

Pokepedia Editors

The site copy, help articles, curated recommendations, merchandise picks, blog posts, comparisons, tracker logic, team planner tooling, and every one-liner you read on a page are written and maintained by us. Layout, design, navigation, and all the little quality of life touches are ours too.

Pokémon and all related names, sprites, artwork, and game titles are trademarks of Nintendo, Game Freak, and The Pokémon Company. Pokepedia is an unofficial fan project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any of them.
