Hoenn is the warm-water region. The Hoenn Pokedex catalogs the 135 species introduced in Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald, along with everything that returned from earlier games. Diving was a new mechanic and Hoenn is the most water-heavy map in the series. Primal Kyogre and Primal Groudon show up in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. Every Hoenn entry is below in regional order.
About the Hoenn Pokedex
Hoenn is the Gen 3 region from Pokemon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald on the Game Boy Advance, remade as Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire on the 3DS. The Hoenn Pokedex includes 135 new Pokemon, plus returning species. Hoenn is the most water-heavy region in the series, with huge ocean routes and underwater diving.
Starters in Hoenn
Hoenn starters are Treecko (Grass), Torchic (Fire), and Mudkip (Water). Final evolutions are Sceptile, Blaziken (which becomes Fighting-type on evolution), and Swampert. Mega versions of each starter appear in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire.
Legendary Pokemon in Hoenn
Kyogre and Groudon are the Hoenn cover legendaries, tied to the weather-control storyline. Rayquaza, their calming force, lives on top of Sky Pillar. The Regi trio (Regirock, Regice, Registeel) is hidden in sealed chambers. Latias and Latios roam the Hoenn map. Jirachi and Deoxys are Mythicals.
Hoenn Gym Leaders and Trials
The Hoenn gym leaders are Roxanne (Rock), Brawly (Fighting), Wattson (Electric), Flannery (Fire), Norman (Normal, who is also your father), Winona (Flying), Tate and Liza (Psychic double battle), and Wallace or Juan (Water). Steven or Wallace is the Hoenn Champion depending on the game.
Completing the Hoenn Pokedex
A full Hoenn pokedex involves catching both version-exclusive Pokemon pairs and finding underwater species via dive. Emerald expanded the Hoenn dex slightly over Ruby and Sapphire. Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire added Mega Evolution, making Hoenn pokedex completion easier with access to post-game Soaring.
