Alola is the vacation region, Hawaii in everything but name. Sun and Moon's Alola Pokedex added 88 new species plus regional forms for familiar Kanto faces like Raichu, Vulpix, and Marowak. Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon expanded the list with Ultra Beasts and extra legendaries. Every Alola Pokemon is below, sorted by Alola regional dex number.

About the Alola Pokedex

Alola is the Gen 7 region from Pokemon Sun and Moon, with expanded versions Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. The Alola region is modeled on Hawaii and is split across four islands, each with its own Alola pokedex. Alola introduced regional variant forms (Alolan Raichu, Alolan Vulpix, Alolan Marowak) and replaced traditional gym battles with Island Trials.

Starters in Alola

Alola starters are Rowlet (Grass and Flying), Litten (Fire), and Popplio (Water). Rowlet's final evolution Decidueye picks up Ghost type. Incineroar becomes Fire and Dark. Primarina becomes Water and Fairy.

Legendary Pokemon in Alola

Solgaleo is the Alola legendary of Sun. Lunala is the Alola legendary of Moon. Necrozma is central to Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon's story. The Tapu guardian deities (Tapu Koko, Tapu Lele, Tapu Bulu, Tapu Fini) each protect one of the four Alola islands. Ultra Beasts are a new class of Alola legendaries, including Nihilego, Buzzwole, Pheromosa, Xurkitree, Celesteela, Kartana, and Guzzlord.

Alola Island Trials

Instead of gym leaders, Alola has Trial Captains and Island Kahunas. Trial Captains test you on Melemele, Akala, Ula'ula, and Poni Island. Each island ends with a Totem Pokemon battle. Z-Moves, powerful once-per-battle super attacks, debuted in Alola.

Completing the Alola Pokedex

The Alola pokedex is split across four island dexes, then unified into a full Alola national pokedex. Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon added around 100 extra Ultra Wormhole destinations, giving access to legendaries from every earlier region. Totem-sized Pokemon, exclusive to Alola's main story, cannot be transferred out.
