Sinnoh built its mythology around legendaries, and the Sinnoh Pokedex in Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum is where Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina all show up. 107 new species, a split between northern and southern routes of Mount Coronet that changes what you encounter, and the first time Fire, Water, and Grass types all felt fairly balanced. Full Sinnoh pokedex in entry order below.
About the Sinnoh Pokedex
Sinnoh is the Gen 4 region from Pokemon Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum on the DS, remade as Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl on the Switch. The Sinnoh Pokedex in the original Diamond and Pearl has 151 regional entries. Platinum expands it to 210. Legends: Arceus revisits the same map as the ancient Hisui region with a separate Hisui Pokedex.
Starters in Sinnoh
Sinnoh starters are Turtwig (Grass), Chimchar (Fire), and Piplup (Water). Piplup keeps Water type through all three forms, while Chimchar becomes Fire and Fighting, and Turtwig becomes Grass and Ground.
Legendary Pokemon in Sinnoh
Dialga and Palkia are the Sinnoh cover legendaries: Dialga controls time in Diamond, Palkia controls space in Pearl. Giratina, ruler of the Distortion World, is central to Platinum's story. Sinnoh also has Heatran, Regigigas, Cresselia, and Mythicals like Shaymin, Darkrai, and Arceus.
Sinnoh Gym Leaders and the Elite Four
Sinnoh gym leaders are Roark (Rock), Gardenia (Grass), Fantina (Ghost), Maylene (Fighting), Crasher Wake (Water), Byron (Steel, Roark's father), Candice (Ice), and Volkner (Electric). Cynthia is the Sinnoh Champion and regularly rated one of the toughest in the series.
Completing the Sinnoh Pokedex
A complete Sinnoh pokedex in Diamond, Pearl, or Platinum means catching every Sinnoh-native Pokemon. Platinum unlocked Pokemon that Diamond and Pearl never allowed, like Magmortar and Electivire with Magmarizer and Electirizer. Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl use the original Sinnoh dex but include Grand Underground access to non-Sinnoh Pokemon.
