Shiny Pokemon are rare color variants with the same stats and abilities as their standard counterparts. The shiny encounter rate was roughly 1 in 8,192 from Generation II through V, and is typically 1 in 4,096 from Generation VI onward. Breeding chains, chain fishing, SOS battles, the Masuda Method, and Shiny Charm all improve the odds further. Every Pokemon species has a shiny form.
