Pokepedia is a free Pokemon reference and tracker. There's no account system, no email capture, no newsletter, and no Google Analytics. Everything below explains the small handful of places where data is touched at all.
Last updated: April 22, 2026.
Analytics, the short version
Pokepedia uses one small analytics script, and it runs on a server I own. No Google Analytics, no Meta Pixel, no third-party trackers dropped in behind the scenes.
What it records per visit: the page you loaded, the page you came from, a rough country, the device type, and the browser family. It does not record your IP address in the database, does not fingerprint your device, and does not set any cookies. The goal is to see which pages fans actually use so I know what to fix and what to build next. That's it.
Ads
If you have not gone ad-free, Pokepedia shows Google AdSense ads on some pages to help cover server and data costs. AdSense is a third-party ad network and, unlike my analytics, it does use cookies and device signals to pick which ad to show you. Google's own privacy policy covers exactly what they collect and how.
If you'd rather not have that on your session, the Go Ad-Free option is a one-time purchase that removes all ads. Nothing else on Pokepedia is gated; every Pokemon, every move, every tool works for free either way.
Payments
Ad-free purchases run through Stripe. When you pay, Stripe processes the card and sends Pokepedia a webhook that flips an ad-free flag for your browser. I never see your card number. Stripe stores the transaction under their privacy policy; Pokepedia stores a signed token in a cookie on your device so that the ad-free state follows you on return visits.
Contact form
The contact page uses a simple third-party form provider. When you submit the form, the fields you filled in are saved so I can read and reply. Nothing is shared with marketing lists, nothing is sold, and the form is not hooked into an email newsletter.
Ad-free license key
When you go ad-free, a unique license key is generated on Pokepedia's server and saved alongside your Stripe customer record so the purchase can be verified later. The key also appears on the thank-you page right after payment, and on the receipt Stripe sends to the email you used at checkout. Save that key: pasting it on the restore page of any other device activates ad-free on that device too.
Pokepedia does not send its own email. The only email you receive related to your purchase is the one Stripe sends automatically as a standard receipt.
What lives on your device
A few features save state in your browser's localStorage so they work offline and survive refreshes. None of this data is sent to me or to anyone else.
- Pokedex Tracker: your caught, shiny, and traded marks, plus any notes you've written, stay in your browser. You can export them to a file and re-import later.
- Trainer Card Maker: the card you're designing (name, title, party, badges, layout) auto-saves so nothing gets lost on refresh.
- Sound & mute preferences: whether hover and catch sounds are on or off.
- Ad-free token: if you've paid, a signed token lets Pokepedia remember that on this device.
Clearing your browser storage will reset all of the above. If you want to move your tracker to another device, use the built-in export on the tracker page.
Cookies
Pokepedia sets a small cookie only if you go ad-free (to remember that). The analytics script sets no cookies at all. Google AdSense may set cookies for ad selection on your side when ads are shown.
Kids, rights, and changes
There is no account system, so there is nothing to delete server-side if you want to walk away. Close the tab, clear your browser, and Pokepedia is out of your life. If you sent me a message through the contact form and want me to remove it, use the same form to ask and I'll wipe it.
If this page ever changes in a meaningful way, I'll bump the “last updated” date at the top and log the change on the changelog.
Questions
If any of this is unclear, or you think I've got something wrong, use the contact form and ask. Real person, replies within a few days.
