About Pokemon Sun
Pokemon Sun launched Gen 7 in 2016 on the 3DS. The Pokemon Sun Pokedex introduced 88 new Pokemon and regional Alolan forms for classic Kanto Pokemon like Alolan Raichu, Alolan Vulpix, and Alolan Marowak. Pokemon Sun dropped traditional gym battles in favor of Island Trials, each ending in a Totem Pokemon boss fight.
Z-Moves in Pokemon Sun
Pokemon Sun debuted Z-Moves, once-per-battle super attacks tied to a Z-Ring and type-specific Z-Crystals. Each starter has an exclusive Z-Move. Z-Moves are Pokemon Sun's replacement for HMs and work with any Pokemon of matching type.
Solgaleo in Pokemon Sun
Solgaleo is the Pokemon Sun cover legendary. Pokemon Sun runs 12 hours offset from Pokemon Moon's in-game time, which changes which Pokemon appear on which routes. Ultra Beasts appear in the Pokemon Sun post-game as an entirely new Pokemon class.
Completing the Pokemon Sun Pokedex
Completing the Pokemon Sun pokedex means working through all four Alola islands plus Ultra Beast captures. Pokemon Sun version-exclusive Ultra Beasts require Moon trades. Pokemon Bank updates enabled Gen 6 transfers into Pokemon Sun for full national dex work.
