Trade-only Pokémon
8 Pokémon appear in this Pokédex but cannot be caught in the wild in Sapphire. Trade them from Pokémon Ruby to complete your Pokédex.
Pokemon Sapphire is Ruby's counterpart and puts Team Aqua in charge of the story. The Pokemon Sapphire Pokedex covers the 135 Hoenn species plus returners, with Kyogre as the legendary fight. Expect different version exclusives from Ruby: you'll get Lotad, Seviper, and Lunatone instead of Seedot, Zangoose, and Solrock. Full Pokemon Sapphire pokedex below.
About Pokemon Sapphire
Pokemon Sapphire is Ruby's twin and launched the Hoenn region alongside Ruby in Gen 3. The Pokemon Sapphire Pokedex lists the same 200 regional Hoenn entries, but version exclusives differ. Team Aqua replaces Team Magma as the central villain group, and Kyogre is the Pokemon Sapphire cover legendary.
Version Exclusives in Pokemon Sapphire
Pokemon Sapphire exclusives include Lotad, Lombre, Ludicolo, Sableye, Seviper, Lunatone, and Kyogre. Pokemon Ruby has Seedot, Nuzleaf, Shiftry, Mawile, Zangoose, Solrock, and Groudon as its exclusives.
Completing the Pokemon Sapphire Pokedex
Completing the Pokemon Sapphire pokedex means trading Sapphire's catch list with Ruby, Emerald, FireRed, or LeafGreen cartridges to fill in the missing slots. Pokemon Sapphire's Weather Institute, underwater routes, and the Sootopolis story are all Sapphire-specific moments worth revisiting.
