Abilities, Natures, and double battles debuted in Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire. Pokemon Ruby's main villain team is Team Magma, with Maxie as boss and Groudon as the legendary.

Ruby starters are Treecko, Torchic, and Mudkip. The Pokemon Ruby gym order runs Rustboro, Dewford, Mauville, Lavaridge, Petalburg (your father Norman), Fortree, Mossdeep, and Sootopolis, ending at the Elite Four and Champion Steven.
