The random generator has seven filters. You can narrow the pool by generation, region, type, category, evolution stage, natures, and genders. Mix and match to get exactly the kind of random result you want.
Step 1
Open the Random Pokemon page. Filters are displayed above the Generate button.
Step 2
Use the Generation dropdown to limit picks to a specific gen. Use Region to narrow by location (Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova, Kalos, Alola, Galar, Paldea, Hisui, or All Regions). Use Type for any of the 18 Pokemon types.
Step 3
The Category dropdown lets you filter by Legendary only, Mythical only, or Non-legendary. Useful for excluding rare Pokemon from random picks, or specifically targeting them.
Step 4
The Stage dropdown filters by Basic, Stage 1, Stage 2, or No Evolution. Natures and Genders checkboxes add or remove those attributes from the result.
Step 5
The counter on the Generate button updates as you add filters, so you always know how big the pool is. Hit Reset Filters to clear everything and go back to the full Pokedex.
