How to read a Pokemon move's power, accuracy, and PP

Every Pokemon move has three core combat stats: Power, Accuracy, and PP. Power is the raw base damage of the move before type, STAB, and stat modifiers. Accuracy is the percent chance the move hits its target. PP is the number of times the move can be used before it needs restoring at a Pokemon Center or with an Ether.

Step 1

On any move detail page at /pokemon-moves/thunderbolt, the stat cards show Power, Accuracy, PP, and Priority. Power is a raw number (for example 90 for Thunderbolt). A dash means the move does not deal direct damage, which is normal for Status moves.

Step 2

Accuracy is shown as a percentage. 100% means the move never misses unless the target has evasion boosts or an accuracy drop. 70% means a 30% chance to miss per use. A dash means the move bypasses accuracy checks entirely (for example Swift or Aerial Ace).

Step 3

PP is total uses before the move is depleted. A move with 15 PP can be used 15 times at base, or up to 24 times if PP Ups have been applied. The flavor text block below the stats is the in-game description lifted verbatim from the most recent mainline game.

Compare any move's stats side by side using the sortable table in the Moves database. Type effectiveness on top of Power is handled by the Type Chart.
